Ever-quirky frontman Fred Schneider will take a break from the long-running B-52s this fall to release Destination… Christmas!, a collection of 11 completely original and allegedly “party friendly” holiday tunes that he’s written and recorded with his Orlando, Fla.-based side project The Superions.
Due out Oct. 26, the disc features such potential Christmas chestnuts as “Santa’s Disco,” “Fruitcake” and “Jingle Those Bells” (see full tracklist and album trailer below). According to a news release announcing the project, “the response the Superions have received from playing this record for friends has been hysterical laughter.”
Schneider formed the Superions two years ago with keyboardist Noah Brodie and programmer Dan Marshall; the trio previously has released an EP and a limited-edition 12-inch single. As for the new Christmas disc, Schneider writes, “It’s hard to say who our musical influences for this project were, because we don’t want to get sued.”

Is Susan Boyle making a Christmas album? According to a report in Billboard citing unnamed “U.S. retail sources,” the Scottish sales phenomenon is currently in the studio recording a Yule-themed set for a potential October release. A spokesperson for Columbia Records confirms that Boyle is in the process of recording her second album, but was unable to confirm whether or not it has anything to do with the holidays.
Boyle’s debut, I Dreamed A Dream, sold more than three million copies in the U.S. in just over a month after being released late last November, making her follow-up a very big deal within the music industry. What do you think of this report? Would you buy a Susan Boyle Christmas album?

Kate Gosselin has been shocking everyone with one surprise after another. First, it was her appearance on Dancing with the Stars, which showcased her hidden dancing talent. Then, it was a drastic change to the length of her blonde hair. Soon after, pictures surfaced of Gosselin with questionable plastic surgery.
And now, the reality star and her eight children are in talks to produce a holiday album that consists of Gosselin’s favorite religious classics.
According to Popeater.com, Kate is pitching a CD of holiday songs sung by herself and all her children. Gosselin sees herself as a modern day Maria from The Sound of Music. Although, this time, the family singers won’t be the Von Trap family; they will be the Gosselins.
If produced, Gosselin will not be the first reality star to produce an album. Three of the women from the Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise have released music. Not to mention that Jessica Simpson, at the height of her reality show career, released a Christmas CD where she sang “The Little Drummer Boy” in a duet with her younger sister, Ashlee.
Rolling Stone has reported – in its most recent issue – that Ozzy Osbourne will be releasing a collection of tunes to incite metallic holiday cheer next year and that it will be called “Black Christmas.”
Ozzy even hinted that there will be a TV special component to the Christmas album.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife-a-ger, told the publication that she’s discussed the idea with Ozzy and that “he’s trying to forget it actually exists.”
The Ozzman’s publicists could not confirm or deny that these plans are solidly in the works.
