Royce Campbell Releases A Solo Guitar Christmas
By Jeff Westover on Sep 29, 2007 in Music News
Royce Campbell’s latest release “A Solo Guitar Christmas” is exactly that. The well known jazz guitarist performs a selection of classic Christmas songs on guitar, with no other instruments. Campbell has has been on the scene since the 1970s, touring with Marvin Gaye and Henry Mancini, as well as performing solo. The 14 track collection ranges from “Silent Night” to “The First Noel,” all with the same solo guitar approach. “Deck the Halls” has the most traditional jazz feel, while “Jingle Bells” is infused with blues influences.
While “A Solo Guitar Christmas” may end up as background music to many Christmas dinners, jazz guitar fans will find it a new take on classics.
