LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter)- VH1 has ordered a comedy/musical Christmas special starring Larry the Cable Guy.
The special is slated to be filmed in early August at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for a premiere probably in early December.
J.P. Williams, who manages the comedian, said it would offer an edgy take on the heartfelt Andy Williams specials that started during the 1960s and featured production numbers and performances by the singer and his family along with special guests like the Osmond Brothers.
“We want to push the envelope and go out there with such bits as roasting Santa Claus, for example,” he said.
On the music side, Williams said he was looking for a mix of bands and solo artists consistent with the VH1 brand and hopes to bring one or two veteran singers such as Tony Orlando or Andy Williams.
Git-R-Done Larry, and Merry Christmas!!!
